As you may be aware, my posting has taken a bit of a hiatus over the past several months. I’ve been working a lot, as well as managing a friend’s company. Hopefully, The Mountain Medic and his company may be in cahoots sometime in the near future; stay tuned for that! I’m currently posting from the campus of Landmark Learning, in Silva, NC. I’m helping with an EMT course. It’s beautiful down here! The fall colors are really getting nice.
At any rate, I’m making a triumphant return with a “What Would You Do?” Wednesday…on a Thursday. Take a look at this video. Our patient and his friend are out doing a bit of canyoneering, and this is the initial rappel into the canyon.
I’m pretty sure he didn’t intend his rappel to go that way. So, what would you do? What sorts of injuries might you expect, and how do you intend to go about managing this patient? Also, what are some things that could have prevented this injury?
Share your thoughts, either here or on twitter using #wwydwednesday. I’ll share my thoughts in the next several days.
